The Importance of Courage

Lala Meredith-Vula is an accomplished artist and a professor of art and photography at De Montfort University in Leicester, United Kingdom.

Currently, Lala is immersed in the creation of a book focused on her Haystack series, curated by Monika Szewczyk. In April 2023, she held a solo exhibition titled ‘what I didn’t know I knew’ at the Ministry Gallery Kosova, and also showcased her work at two different locations as part of the 40th edition of EVA International, Ireland’s Biennial of Contemporary Art.

Lala collaborated with VULA on a project where the client emphasised the importance of courage and innovation, rather than playing it safe. The client acknowledged VULA’s exceptional level of bravery and creativity, expressing a belief that few designers she had encountered throughout her life could match that level of boldness. VULA takes risks and dives headfirst into any project, allowing our creative spirit to flow freely without reservation.

While some may question our unconventional choices, such as deviating from standard colour palettes in favour of what best serves the overall movement and perception of the space, VULA believes that it’s all about achieving a harmonious integration of elements that effectively convey the intended message.

With this vision in mind, VULA and Lala presented the concept to the team, setting the stage for an exciting creative journey.
