VULA embarked on a groundbreaking project to design a penthouse apartment in Oslo, showcasing a revolutionary concept that seamlessly integrates urban living with the serenity of nature. Named “The Fjords of Happiness,” this penthouse offers a captivating 360-degree panoramic view of the city, epitomising open-plan living at its finest.

Design Concept

The Living Platform: Using materials and furnishings to replicate the tranquillity of water and the outdoor environment, designed with openness in mind to create a feeling of being outdoors with no boundaries.

Innovative Lighting: A light panel above mirrors the platform’s geometry, simulating the experience of sitting among rocks and adapting to external weather conditions.

Design Features

Curtain Design
Curtains incorporating natural materials eliminate the presence of walls, enhance acoustics, and create an inviting outdoor sensation.

Innovative Kitchen
The kitchen space is designed to have a free-flowing circulation journey with no cul-de-sacs. The space consists of three islands, allowing for communication to carry through. Angled fronts with carefully designed geometry, give the perception of floating islands in the space with their slender presence, ensuring practicality and aesthetics.

Automated Blinds
Electronic blinds adapt to the time of day and external surroundings, optimising natural light and energy efficiency.

Dining Room
Designed to evoke the intimate ambiance of dining in a fjord cave, with polished marble and strategically placed light panels to create an enchanting atmosphere.

Wine Room
A refrigerated room with dedicated sections for different wines, dividing the space between dining and relaxation.

Master Bedroom
Offers unobstructed views of the Oslo fjords, capturing the beauty of the landscape, and can be separated with a folding wall to create a separate area for guests.

Luxurious Bathrooms
Hand-selected marble from Verona creates the sensation of standing beneath a natural waterfall.

The ‘The Fjords of Happiness’ penthouse represents a harmonious blend of nature’s beauty and urban grandeur, promising to inspire those seeking bold and innovative design.
