Embrace the Extraordinary
Renowned Norwegian street artist Martin Whatson, celebrated for his distinctive calligraphic style against grayscale backdrops, has integrated abstract motion with stencilled compositions over the past decade.
Emerging from the graffiti scene of the 1990s, marked by stringent anti-graffiti measures, Martin adopted stencils in his work during the early 2000s to harmonise the spontaneity of graffiti with the delicacy of nature.
VULA collaborated with Martin on a concept that revolved around graffiti art adorning a large wall leading to the top-floor terrace. This idea was sparked when the client encouraged boldness and the inclusion of contrasting colours and design clashes.
Initially, Martin hesitated, deeming the space too exceptional for graffiti. However, as Pranvera says, that is precisely the point – a home should reflect your personality. “What if you’re the adventurous, artistic type who loves entertaining? That’s what this space embodies; it’s not for the ordinary. Let’s embrace the extraordinary!”
